Noida: The E-Cycle service has been handed over to the residents of the city by the Noida Authority. Due to a delay in power connection, the facility could be started only at 24 docking stations (stands) so far. While 31 docking stations were to be started in the first phase. The authority has given its responsibility to the Neturban Mobility Company.
The Noida Authority has built docking stations at 62 places in the city by spending crores of rupees. In the first phase, 310 cycles are to be run. If the experiment of the first phase is successful, e-cycles will be made available at the remaining 31 stations of the second phase, but till now only 24 docking stations have electricity connections. Work on the remaining stations is progressing at a slow pace. In such a situation, the residents of the city are not able to use the charging system properly.
Most of the E-cycles are being used by the students from the stand near Amity University. Apart from this, a lot of trends are being seen among the working people coming and going from Sectors 63, 58, and 62. This cycle is being booked through the app. On the other hand, keeping in view the interests of the people, the Noida Authority has reduced the monthly fee for e-cycle from Rs. 1499 to Rs. 999.
E-cycles will be booked through a mobile app, and payment will also be done through digital mediums. The rates for renting e-cycles have been fixed, a security deposit of Rs 299 has to be made through the app. After this, the fare for the first 30 minutes will be Rs 15 and thereafter Rs 1 per minute. If the cycle gets stuck in a jam during this time, the fare will be 50 paise per minute.
This project will reduce pollution, and people will get better physical benefits. The maximum speed of the e-cycle will be 25 kilometres per hour. Its weight without batteries will not exceed 60 kg. There will be reflectors on the front and back sides. Its seat can be raised or lowered. It will be equipped with a GPS system. A control room will be set up for this. 62 cycle stands have been prepared by the authority. These stands were built in 2021 at a cost of about Rs 1 crore. 10 cycles are to be started from one stand.
