Why Is Dry Day Declared?
Dry days are specific days when the sale of alcohol is prohibited. Most of the Indian states observe dry day during festival and national holidays. These days are declared to promote cultural and religious sensitivity during the festival and also to prevent public disturbances or accidents that may arise from the consumption of alcohol during important national or religious events.
According to excise laws, severe legal action will be taken against anyone found selling alcohol illegally during the closure period.
