News24 Manthan 2025, EXCLUSIVE: Delhi Chief Minister and AAP candidate from the Kalkaji Assembly seat, Atishi, opened up about the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections in an exclusive interview with News24 on Thursday. CM Atishi participated in News24’s Manthan 2025 program and shared her insights on several issues pertaining to Delhi. She discussed the election strategy, BJP’s allegations, and the changes AAP will make if it comes into power again.
When asked why meetings with the LG that used to be held every week during Sheila Dikshit’s time, didn’t happened during AAP’s tenure. Atishi said, “Our government was formed in 2015. The powers that Sheila ji’s government had during her time were taken away by the Home Ministry through a notice in May 2015. The Delhi government no longer has control over the officers. For 8 years, we fought this in court. The court declared their decision as wrong, but soon after, they issued a new notification.”
Atishi On Delhi CM
On being questioned how far is her decision to leave CM’s chair vacant right from a democratic perspective. She replied, “The position of Delhi’s Chief Minister is not vacant; I have taken an oath. The people of Delhi know that wrong has happened with Arvind Kejriwal. No honest leader like him has come in the history of this country. First, they stopped his work, and then they put all our ministers in jail.”
Atishi further said that she never thought that she would become Chief Minister of Delhi one day. She added, “In our view, there is only one CM of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal. The people of Delhi have immense love for him. Everyone saw how he interacted with the public during his padyatra. When he came out of jail, people gave him a grand welcome during the padyatra because he was innocent. People would hug him, and elderly women would bless him by putting their hands on his head.”
When asked why Delhi’s strongest Chief Minister get emotional and cry during press conferences. Atishi said, “When it comes to family, we get emotional. Ramesh Bidhuri didn’t just use offensive words for me and Priyanka Gandhi, but he also insulted my elderly parents. Every person shows their character through their language. I believe that while fighting the election, Mr. Bidhuri has already shown his character in the past week.”
Delhi CM On Work Hour
She was further questioned about her work hours. To which Atishi replied, “It has become a trend these days to talk about how many hours you work. I believe it’s not necessary to focus on how many hours you work. What’s more important is what you deliver to the people of Delhi. Whether it happens in 6 hours or 8 hours, it doesn’t matter. If after working 16 hours, I can’t provide electricity, good schools, and hospitals to the people of Delhi, then working 18 hours wouldn’t make any sense.”
Atishi On Delhi Assembly Elections
Atishi expressed her views on upcoming Delhi Assembly Elections and whether Delhiites will vote for AAP. She said, “Every election is difficult. No election is easy. Are the people of Delhi happy with Arvind Kejriwal’s work? If yes, they will vote for us, and if not, they will vote for someone else.”
