New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced to reconduct the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) for the female candidates who allegedly face harassment during frisking.
In this matter, the NTA has sent an official E-mail to the respective candidates. The girls can choose whether or not to appear for another attempt on September 4.
The issue started when female candidates were asked to remove their bras before entering the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) examination centre in Kerala’s Kollam district.
However, the issue had spread across the nation when a father of one of the female aspirants filed a complaint with the Kottarakara police.
He alleged that the female NEET aspirants were asked to their bras as the metal hook in the inner wear was a concern of security.
After which, an FIR was filed under sections 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code.
The police arrested seven people in the matter including two members of college staff considering their presence during the incident. However, all the accused ones got out on bail eventually.
While contemplating over the intensity of the incident, the Human Rights Commission as well as National Commission for Women and the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights intervened and sought a report on the matter.
