Rape Case Accused Die By Suicide, Complainant Too Tries To End Life

Shaken by the news of a rape accusation against him, a 25-year-old pharmacist took his own life by hanging himself at his sister's residence.

Chhatrapati Sambhajingar: Shaken by the news of a rape accusation against him, a 25-year-old pharmacist took his own life by hanging himself at his sister’s residence in the city on Wednesday. The woman who accused him of rape had also attempted suicide by consuming poison on Tuesday and is currently recovering at the government medical college and hospital (GMCH).

The deceased individual hailed from Relgaon in Sillod Rural and operated a pharmacy store in the village.

According to the police, the rape case came to light on Tuesday when a 19-year-old woman, who had ingested poison, was admitted to GMCH. During the recording of her medico-legal case, she disclosed that her suicide attempt was in response to being raped.

Sillod Rural inspector S M Mehetre stated, “The man had been persistently harassing her for several days. She mentioned that she visited his house on Monday night after he threatened harm to her brother, and it was during this visit that the alleged rape occurred.”

After knowing about the incident, the woman’s brother confronted the pharmacist and, fearing potential repercussions, the pharmacist sought refuge at his sister’s residence in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Upon discovering the gravity of the case, he tragically took his own life by hanging.
