Bandra, Mumbai: In a shocking incident that unfolded on Saturday night, a 55-year-old woman who came from Haridwar via train was allegedly raped by a porter at Mumbai’s Bandra terminus. The incident reportedly occurred when the accused found the woman resting on a vacant train at the terminus and sexually assaulted her.
Woman’s Relative Informs Police
According to officials, the accused porter was present on a second train. The incident came to light after the woman’s relative complained to the railway police. Following the incident, an inquiry was set up and the accused was arrested.
How Did The Crime Unfold?
Police said that the victim came from another city along with a relative for some work purposes. After her relative left the place, the old woman entered an empty coach. There were no passengers present at the scene during that time, reports stated. Taking advantage of the situation, the porter forced himself on her.
CCTV Helps Police Nab Accused
Upon returning, her relative reached out to the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Railway Police. Police nabbed the accused with the help of CCTV footage installed at the terminus. Additionally, a probe was set up by the police to find out the reason for the lack of security personnel at the spot.
