The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has not issued any official notification regarding the closure of schools for tomorrow. However, incidents in the past have led to unavoidable circumstances due to rain, where sudden holidays were declared. At present, the Panvel Municipal Corporation has ordered a shutdown of schools and colleges in the city on August 20.
Educational institutions are also likely to remain closed in Mumbai City, Mumbai Suburbs, Thane, Ratnagiri, Palghar, Raigad, Chandrapur districts, and the Pune Ghat and Nashik Ghat areas, as a red alert is in place for the next 12 hours. However, an official confirmation is still awaited.
Due to relentless rain across different parts of Maharashtra, the Central Railway also announced the cancellation of 14 long-distance trains (7 pairs) on Tuesday. The decision was taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of passengers, as waterlogging on tracks and low visibility made the operations unsafe. The affected routes include those connected to and from Pune, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), and other key cities.
