Mumbai: With the festival season fast approaching, central agencies have issued an alert about possible terror attacks in Mumbai. Elaborate security has been put in place at crowded places, religious places, and elsewhere. In this connection, police have been asked to conduct mock drills to prevent any future incidents.
Security Measures Are In Full Swing
The police sources stated that security has been put at an all-time high across Mumbai, particularly at busy spots and places of worship. All the DCPs across the zones have been advised to pay special attention towards security arrangements and ensure that all precautionary steps are taken.
Mock Drills In Key Locations
Already mock drills have been performed in crowded places like Crawford Market, which has two important religious centers too. “Because of the festivals and elections, mock drills are being performed in congested places and religious centers,” said a police official. The drill will also ensure proper preparation of security apparatus in case it is needed for any event or activity.
Religious Sites On Alert
Similarly, in Mumbai city, the management of temples, churches, and other places of worship have been asked to be on their toes and report the most minor activity which appears dubious. “We have been directed by Mumbai Police to increase security and vigilance on all arrangements,” declared Sada Sarvankar, Chairman of Siddhivinayak Temple Trust.
Precautions Pre-Festival and Ahead Of Elections
Major celebrations like Durga Puja, Dussehra, and Diwali are approaching, besides Maharashtra state assembly elections are scheduled in November. The law and order machinery of the city knows this, and they are doing everything possible to see that the people do not face any danger during the festival time.
It will also be a time when hundreds and thousands of people will rush to various places in Mumbai.
This will be the safest and most secure festival season for people due to these tight security measures that prevent any potential trouble from taking a shape.
