Maharashtra: Another snag hit Mumbai on Monday morning as a monorail stopped mid-ride in the Wadala area due to technical glitches. The train was left stranded between Antop Hill and GTB Nagar stations. A total of seventeen passengers were evacuated from the monorail and transferred to another train coming from Chembur around 7.45 am.
Rajesh Ananda Bhojane, Ward Councillor of Ward 175, Republican Party of India (Athawale) said, “The train heading to Wadala halted. The passengers were transferred to the train coming from Chembur. The Fire Brigade came later and started their operation. I urge the Govt to resolve this recurring issue.” According to Monorail officials, the incident occurred due to a supply issue.

This is, however, not the first time such an incident has occurred. The Monorail system has been plagued by similar incidents in the past. Earlier in August 2025, a Monorail train came to a halt between Bhakti Park and Chembur, near Mysore Colony station in Mumbai, after experiencing a power supply failure. Videos circulating on social media showed several passengers stranded mid-route. They were later rescued from the stalled train.
The fire brigade, BMC, and other agencies swiftly carried out the rescue operation using cranes. No injuries were reported in the incident. The train, which runs on an elevated track, was stranded for at least one hour, officials had said.
