Mumbai Metro Line 3: The long-awaited Mumbai Metro Line 3, also known as Aqua Line is finally operational today, October 7. The newly inaugurated Metro Line 3 is 12.69 km long and is part of the much bigger 33.5 km stretch of Colaba-SEEPZ-Aarey Metro Line 3, which has recently been sanctioned by the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Phase 1 on Saturday and even took a ride to Santacruz station and vice-versa. Phase I includes a total of ten stations, with only one on ground level – Santacruz, Sahar Road, SEEPZ, Aarey Colony JVLR (Ground-level), Bandra Colony, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport Terminal 1 and 2, Marol Naka, and Andheri.
Timings: From October 8 onwards, the train will be operating from 6:30 am to 10:30 pm. On Sunday, it will run from 8:30 am to 10:30 pm.
Frequency: During peak hours, the trains will run at a frequency of 6.5 minutes and every 15-20 minutes during off-peak hours.
Fares: The cost of the ticket ranges from the lowest Rs 10 up to the highest being Rs 50 and the ticket will be available on the MetroConnect3 app and station counters.
Environmental Impact: The new stretch will reduce carbon footprints and help in sustainable urban development.
48 Pilots Will Operate The Train
According to the official handle of Mumbai Metro3, the train would cover 96 round trips between Aarey and BKC and about 48 pilots will operate the trains, including ten women.
