Thane, Mumbai: A shocking and disturbing incident was reported from Mumbai where a 19-year-old girl was raped by a 22-year-old man in December last year. The accused, identified as Chand Khan, from Mumbai’s Bhiwandi city was arrested on Sunday, along with two of his accomplices, Jameer Khan (22) and Kavita (20). The victim, also a resident of Bhiwandi, had filed a complaint with the Police alleging her friend Chand Khan invited her for a trip to Vajreshwari on December 29.
Accused Threatens To Circulate Assault Video
She further stated that he took her to a lodge instead and rape her. According to the Police, Khan recorded the sexual assault on his phone and threatened the victim he would share the video on social media if she refused to have sexual relations with him. Meanwhile, Jameer Khan and Kavita joined him in his malicious act, thus threatening to make the video go viral.
Police Arrest The Accused
After a few days, when the video was circulated online, the victim quietly endured pain and suffering for a month. Based on her complaint later, the Police arrested all three accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and IT (Information Technology) Act. They were then produced before the court and were remanded to police custody until tomorrow, February 11, 2025.
