Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project Update: The Ministry of Railways has shared an important update regarding the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project. As per the latest update, stations on the Mumbai–Ahmedabad corridor in Gujarat are nearing completion. The total length of the corridor will be 508 km, including 352 km in Gujarat and the UT of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and 156 km in Maharashtra.
Sharing the update, the Ministry wrote on X, “The #BulletTrain stations on the Mumbai–Ahmedabad corridor in Gujarat are nearing completion. With modern design, cultural identity, seamless connectivity and eco-friendly features, the stations will redefine passenger comfort and set new benchmarks in travel.”

About The Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project
This project will have 12 thematically designed bullet train stations- Sabarmati, Ahmedabad, Anand, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Bilimora, Vapi in Gujarat and Boisar, Virar, Thane and Mumbai in Maharashtra.
Upon completion, the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Corridor will redefine intercity travel. It will reduce travel time and offer a faster, safer, and more reliable mode of transport. It will drive regional investment and create job opportunities in sectors like real estate, logistics, and tourism. The project will reduce congestion and improve urban mobility in Ahmedabad. 6-Hour Journey To Be Completed In 3 Hours
Another important benefit of this Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project, also called as the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) is that it will reduce the travel journey between Ahmedabad and Mumbai.
This is the country’s first high-speed corridor, which is based on Japan’s Shinkansen technology. The bullet train will connect Mumbai (Maharashtra) to Ahmedabad (Gujarat). The bullet train will cover 12 stations at a speed of 320 kmph and complete the journey in 3 hours. Currently, it takes 6 hours and 45 minutes to travel from Mumbai to Ahmedabad, but the bullet train will reduce the journey by 3 hours.
When Will The Project Be Completed?
The trial runs are expected to start on the 50 km long route between Surat to Bilimora by 2026. From Vapi to Sabarmati, the route is expected to start in 2027, while the full train from Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) to Sabarmati is expected to start in the year 2028-29.
