New Delhi: Taking notice at the ‘grim situation’ of a government school of Maharashtra, the Aurangabad bench of the Bombay High Court directed to form district-level committees in each districts to monitor the situation in there.
The court was hearing a suo moto PIL that drew attention to bad conditions of the schools being run by Zila Parishad and civic bodies. A division bench of Justice Ravindra V Ghuge and YG Khobragade was also informed about a government-run school in Aurangabad that has no electricity for 18 months.
The bench took cognisance of a news report that showed children of a “smart schools” was sitting on the floor surrounded by empty bottles of liquor. It was also mentioned that there were no electricty in the school.
Zila Parishad, Local Bodies using Govt-run schools for Illegal Activities
It was alleged that there are illegal activities being run in the government schools as the bodies responsible for the lookouts of schools taking it for granted.
This exposes the ill-maintainance of school administration that does not care about the kids studying therein. As per the information, the court was also told about weak and poor infrastructure that may cause harm to students anytime.
The court noted the same and opined if that would be the case then it is risk to physical safety of the students. The bench opined that in order to safeguard and give high priority to future of children styding in government-run schools, it has now becone necessary to take steps.
