New Delhi: A 35-year-old woman in Mumbai’s Malad has been booked for allegedy throwing acid on a stray she was annoyed by the latter for ‘troubling’ the cats she feeds. The dog lost his eye in the attack.
The dog named brownie was admitted to a NGO-run medical centre for urgent treatment. TV actor Jaya Bhattacharya recsued the dog and sent the animal to an NGO. She and her team took the an NGO called Thank You Earth.
Bhattacharya said she got to know about the animal abuse on Wednesday when they immediately recsued the dog. They took the animal to medical centre for obtaining a doctor’s certificate of burns on the dog as asked by the police.
In a post on her Instagram handle, she called out the people who believes that a particular religion hates the dog. She said it is not the religion but the human and there should be a religion for those who care for animal.
FIR Registered
The whole incident of the woman throwing the chemical on the dog was caught in a CCTV camera. An FIR has been filed at the Malvani police station in the matter on the complaint of the housing society’s chairman. Meanwhile, the accused has been identified as Sabista Ansari.
On approaching the accused, the woman straightaway dismissed the charges. However, as it could be percieved from the video that the dog started running away franatically as soon as the woman threw something on him.

Dog residing in the society for 5 years
As mentioned in the complaint, the dog has been living in the same society for five years and the residents used to feed him. A guard of the society made the claims adding that he did not pay heed when brownie was barking loudly in the noon but he got to know in the evening that the dog was severely injured.
A case has been registered against the accused under several sections of animal abuse and cruelty.
