Construction of the corridor was supposed to begin in April 2020 itself, however, it was halted then due to the conflict. Owing to the late beginning, it is uncertain as to when the construction will be done and the tunnel will be thrown open. However, it is expected to be completely functioning by 2027.

The high-speed rail line will connect India’s financial hub, Mumbai, and the largest city of Gujarat, Ahmedabad.

The project is estimated to cost Rs 1.1 lakh crore (US$14 billion), including the cost of 24 trains, interest during construction and import duties.
The Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor promises to revolutionize rail transport in India by significantly reducing travel time between the two major cities. However, to realize this vision, the issue of land acquisition must be resolved.
