Mumbai: A Mumbai court on Tuesday sent a passenger, accused of unruly behaviour and smoking on an Air India flight, to jail after he refused to pay Rs 25,000 as a bail security deposit. 

The accused told the court that he had read online that the fine payable under section 336 of the IPC was Rs 250, which he was willing to pay, but not the bail amount court asked for. After this, the Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate sent him to jail.

As per information, Andheri Metropolitan court has granted cash bail to accused Ratnakar Dwivedi, but he refused to pay the amount and told the court that he was ready to go to jail.

He was caught allegedly smoking and behaving unruly in the toilet of Air India’s London-Mumbai flight on March 10, he was charged with Indian Penal Code section 336 (causing danger to the life or personal safety of others).

Air India in a statement that a passenger was found smoking in the lavatory of the aircraft and behaved in an unruly manner despite repeated warnings.
