Mumbai: On Saturday, Mumbai traffic police announced traffic restrictions in some parts of the city because of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) rally on May 1. According to a traffic notification issued by the Mumbai Traffic Police, on May 1, MVA conducted a meeting at Phataka Ground, BKC area of Bandra (East), Mumbai, within the jurisdiction of the BKC traffic division. The traffic notification was issued by Dr Raju Bhujbal, DCP, Traffic, Mumbai.

Many activists and other MVA supporters are expected to travel to BKC in their cars from various parts of Maharashtra to attend the gathering. Due to the enormous number of cars approaching the BKC region, traffic congestion is expected on the Western Express Highway, the Eastern Express Highway, and nearby roads leading to the venue.

The road closed on May 1

Vehicles travelling from the Western Express Highway, Worli Sea Link, and Saint Dnyaneshwar Road to Kurla via the BKC Family Court intersection and the BKC Income Tax junction would be denied entry.

Vehicles travelling from Government Colony, Kanakiya Palace, and Valmiki Nagar through BKC premises towards Chunabhatti and Kurla would be denied entry.

Vehicles coming from Surve Junction and Razzak Junction through MTNL junction from BKC premises towards Western Express Highway, Dharavi, and Worli Sea Link would be denied entry.

Vehicles entering BKC premises through the Eastern Express Highway via Chunabhatti via the BKC link southbound will be denied entry.

Parking restrictions in the BKC area that were imposed by prior notification shall be lifted on 01/05/2023 between 09:00 hrs and 24:00 hrs.

Alternatives Routes

Vehicle traffic from the Western Express Highway, Worli Sea Link through BKC premises towards Kurla must make a U-turn at Family Court Junction-Left turn from MMRDA Junction- and proceed through Dharavi T Junction towards Kurla.

Vehicle traffic travelling from Saint Dnyaneshwar Nagar via BKC premises Income Tax junction shall proceed along Guru Nanak Hospital-Jagat Vidya Mandir Junction-Kala Nagar Junction-Dharavi T Junction-Kurla.

Vehicle traffic travelling from Kherwadi Government Colony, Kanakiya Palace, and Valmiki Nagar through BKC premises to Kurla must make a U-turn at Valmiki Nagar (Kherwadi Traffic Division) and proceed through Government Colony- Kalanagar intersection- Dharavi T intersection to Kurla.

Vehicle traffic from Razzak and Surve Junctions through BKC premises to Western Express Highway, Dharavi T Junction, and Worli Sea Link should travel by CST Road, University main gate, Ambedkar Junction-right turn – Hansbhugra Junction and shall proceed to their destination.

Vehicles travelling along the Eastern Express Highway from Chunabhatti to BKC must turn right at Sion Circle and go through T Junction-Kalanagar Junction to their destination.
