Mumbai: The Maharastra government has declared a 25 per cent discount on Mumbai metro tickets for senior citizens, students, and people with disabilities, which will take place from May 1 in the celebration of Maharashtra Day.
The Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) offered a 25% discount on Mumba Metro fares – Lines 2A and 7 – for people over the age of 65, ‘divyang’, and students up to Class 12. Mumbai One passes for 45 or 60 rides will be discounted. Holders of the National Common Mobility Card will be eligible for the benefit.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said, “We have designed the Mumbai Metro network keeping in mind the needs and safety of senior citizens, disabled persons, and children. We hope that more people will travel on the metro with this travel discount.”
To receive the benefit, divyang individuals must provide genuine medical or government disability certifications, senior citizens must offer proof of age, and children must show a PAN card (student’s or parent’s PAN) along with school ID. Passengers on Metro Lines 2A and 7 can present the documents at any ticket window.
Mumbai-1 cards, both new and previously acquired, will be reduced and will be valid for 30 days. Mumbai-1 cards can be used and recharged in retail outlets, petrol stations and BEST buses.
