Mumbai: A 22-year-old man who was driving while having ganja dragged the traffic constable on the bonnet of his car for almost 10 to 12 km. The constable tried to stop the car for a routine checkup during nakabandi on Saturday at Navi Mumbai.
When traffic policeman Siddheshwar Mali (37) of the Vashi traffic unit was on nakabandi duty at Blue Diamond Chowk in Navi Mumbai, the event occurred. He motioned to a passing automobile, directing the driver to pull over for a check. Aditya Dhondiram Bembade (22), the driver, sped away from the scene.

Mali pursued the car on his bike and halted it at Masala Market on Palm Beach Road in Vashi, suspecting that it contained anything strange. Instead of stopping, Bembade attempted to ram the car into him, and Mali hopped onto the bonnet to save his life.
The traffic constable said, “I was scared for my life while being on the bonnet. In my 15 years of service, I have not undergone such trauma. I am just not in a proper state of mind. I don’t even remember what happened after the car was stopped and what the driver said.”
Shashikant Chandekar a senior officer said, “His medical report says that he was under the influence of marijuana (ganja). We are doing the procedure of taking him into custody. He finished his bachelor of management studies this year and stays with his father, a government official and his homemaker mother in sector 15 Nerul.”
