Madhya Pradesh: A 22-year-old woman was killed by a man who had been harassing her for the last 2 years in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar city. The accused was identified as Deepak Rathore, who approached the woman for marriage, but she denied it.
The victim, Pooja, died on the spot after a man shot her. She used to work at a restaurant and lived in Brahmakund, a Dhar suburb, with her mother and two sisters. She was on her way to work when Rathore confronted her and opened fire.
According to police Rathore has a history of stalking Pooja, and she had filed a case against him in court. He had also threatened her family and acquaintances.
When police reached Rathore’s house in Brahmakund to arrest him, he fired at one of the officers and tried to run away, but the police returned fire on his leg. He was later taken to the government hospital for treatment and taken into custody. His house was also demolished with the help of municipal authorities to clear the area, as it was constructed on public land.
Pooja’s death prompted uproar in the community, which sought justice for her and harsh punishment for Rathore.
