Afternoon Voice newspaper which celebrated its 14th Anniversary on Monday unveiled its new office in Borivali, Mumbai with a digital skilling hub for young aspiring journalists and digital creators.
The office was inaugurated by the hands of BJP MP Gopal Shetty along with him present were BJP MLA Sunil Rane, Actor Makarand Deshpande, and RTI activist Anil Galgali.
Vaidehi Taman, Editor-in-Chief of Afternoon Voice said, “The office will be open to anyone who is driving change – be it creators, journalism aspirants, reporters, artists, or photographers.”
“We want to create a space where every citizen has a platform to raise their voice and help reach the authorities and the government. We would be training every citizen journalist from urban to rural India on journalism, photo-journalism and video-journalism and make them self-sufficient to put their concerns through our platform.” Taman further added, “We plan to expand across major cities of India and have such skilling hubs throughout India, we want to create a new modal and example in the media industry.”
Afternoon Voice was launched on 8 August 2009, by the hands of former Union Minister Prakash Javadekar, former Commissioner of Police Mumbai D Sivanandan, and former Municipal Commissioner of Mumbai RA Rajeev.
Afternoon Voice covers a vast range of topics such as long-form editorial, interviews, and lifestyle content on community issues, politics, finance, and entertainment to name a few.
This newspaper and web portal was launched to cover the hidden aspects of Mumbai and showcase what the city has to offer by featuring inside stories, news, and other important aspects. Since its inception, this news outlet has gained recognition for offering powerful editorial commentaries and readers’ opinions both in its print issue, as well as web portal.
