New Delhi: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has increased the speed of the metro line from New Delhi to Dwarka Sec-21 via the Indira Gandhi International Airport from 100 kmph to 110 kmph, which will be implemented from Thursday onwards.
DMRC said, “With this enhancement, DMRC has set a new benchmark in the Indian Metro sector by achieving a remarkable speed of 110 kmph and continues to hold the distinction of being one of the fastest Metro systems in India.”
The journey time between the two terminal stations has been decreased by more than four minutes, to roughly 19 minutes, as a result of this renovation. The journey from the airport to Shivaji Stadium will now take roughly 15 minutes, while the journey from New Delhi to the airport would take 16 minutes.
This speed increase has also pushed the airport considerably closer to the city hub Rajiv Chowk, which is now reachable in 15 minutes, according to officials.
The DRMC also intends to boost the speed to 120 kmph in the future. The train on this route is planned to go at 132 kilometres per hour. The operational speed was increased from 90 kmph to 100 kmph in March. The decision to increase train speed was made after the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) acquired the required consent from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS), according to Metro officials.
