Kerela: A man set fire to the moving train by throwing flammable material on other passengers. The incident took place in Kozhikode, Kerala. Nine people were injured, and three jumped from the train as they got scared while seeing the incident.

A man set fire to a moving train by sprinkling inflammable substances on other passengers. Seeing a sudden fire in the bogie, a woman travelling with a one-year-old child jumped from the moving train itself. Aside from both of them, the police have also found the dead body of another person on the tracks.

The police registered a case and started searching for the person who set the train on fire. During the arson, nine other people aboard the train were also seriously injured and are undergoing treatment in the hospital.

Police stated that the incident took place on the Alappuzha-Kannur Executive Express at 9.45 p.m. on Sunday. After crossing Kozhikode city, just as the train reached the Korapuzha railway bridge, an unidentified person poured an inflammable substance on other passengers and set it on fire. Nine people were badly burned in this arson. After executing the incident, the suspected accused fled from there.

Seeing the blazing fire in the coach of the train, other passengers pulled the chain, and the injured were taken to the hospital. When the train reached Kannur after proceeding from there, some passengers complained that a woman and a child were missing since the incident. A person injured in the arson was searched for both. After a lot of searching, the woman’s mobile phone and a shoe belonging to the child were found on the train.

When the police started searching for the woman and the child, besides the woman and the child, the dead body of another person was found lying on the tracks near Elathur railway station. Police suspect that after seeing the fire, he jumped from the moving train. The police are scanning the CCTV footage to determine the veracity of the incident.

According to agency sources, the woman was the child’s aunt. A total of 9 people have been seriously injured in the arson, and they are undergoing treatment in different hospitals, including Kozhikode Medical College.
