Gurugram: The Gurugram police detained a man who is accused of duping nearly 30 women after befriending them on Instagram under the guise of being a pilot.
The suspect was apprehended on Tuesday from the outskirts of the national capital. The squad from Cyber Crime Police Station, East carried the operation, reported the news agency PTI.
As per the police, they have found the debit card, phone, and two SIM cards that were used in the crime.
Hemant Sharma, a 25-year-old man, is the accused. He was turned over to a city court on Wednesday, where he was placed in judicial custody, according to the police.
According to the police, a woman recently reported that a man who was pretending to be a pilot, befriended her on Instagram and illegally deposited more than 1 lakh from her account.
The suspect was taken into custody on Tuesday by a team from cybercrime police station East under the direction of SHO Inspector Bijendra Singh.
An official informed that the accused sent request to more than 150 young ladies. He used to add airline crew member to get ladies in confidence.
After which, the man used to ask them to transfer money into his account. Once the transaction is done, he breaks the contact with them.
