New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Sunday said the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi paved the way for India to become ‘self-reliant’. On the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the UP CM paid a floral tribute in Lucknow.
“Along with the freedom movement, Gandhiji gave new impetus to the ideas of Swadeshi, Swachhta, Swavalamban and Gram Swaraj,” tweeted UP CM Yogi.
“Bapu is a great inspiration for us even today,” he added.

CM Yogi also remembered India’s second Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. He said, “After contributing to the independence of the country with full dedication, he discharged his various responsibilities with complete purity and loyalty even in independent India.”
The birth anniversary of India’s second Prime Minister falls on October 2. CM Yogi paid homage to Shashtri also in the state capital.
