UP: Fire Breaks Out In Moving Bus, 5 Burnt Alive; Passengers Allege Driver Fled Without Informing Anyone

Eyewitnesses stated that the fire was so fierce that the flames were visible from 1 km away. The entire bus burnt to ashes in 10 minutes.

Lucknow: A massive fire broke out in a moving bus in Lucknow, resulting in five people being burnt alive on Thursday. The sleeper bus was travelling from Delhi to Bihar when it suddenly caught fire on Kisan Path near Mohanlalganj. Several videos from the spot show the entire bus engulfed in fire within few minutes. It is told that the bus driver broke the glass and jumped out. Most of the passengers were sleeping at the time of the accident. The passengers woke up after the bus filled with smoke. There was an extra seat near the driver, due to which the passengers had difficulty in getting down. Many passengers got stuck in it and fell.

Flames Visible From 1km Away

As soon as the accident was reported, people from the nearby reached at the spot. They informed the police and the fire brigade. By the time the fire brigade team controlled the fire, the entire bus had been burnt to ashes. Eyewitnesses stated that the fire was so fierce that the flames were visible from 1 km away. The entire bus burnt to ashes in 10 minutes.

Passengers Allege Driver Fled

One of the passengers, stated that that he woke up with noise and when he looked around, he found the bus filled with smoke. He added that there was stampede like situation and the incident took place around 4:30-4:35 am in the morning.

Another added that there was spark near the gear and the fire started from there. He mentioned that the driver fled away without telling anyone. Some of the passengers who were at the front managed to get down, while others in the back were struck.
