New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Thursday made an emotional appeal to the farmers who have denied to leave their lands for upcoming Noida International Airport’s land acquisition in exchange of compensation.
The UP CM has has also promised an increased compensation for giving up their lands for the airport project.
“Hum aap se saudebaazi nahi karna chahte (We do not want to negotiate a deal with you,” said CM Adityanath.
“Your contribution in development of an international airport will be there for your generations to see,” he added.
Billed to be nation’s largest once its completed, the airport is under construction in the Jewar area in western Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddh Nagar district. The area is nearly 75 km away from the national capital. It’s estimated cost is Rs 29,560 crore.
However, the plan witnesses roadblocks after farmers of six villages refused to let go their lands for airport.
Ranhera, Kureb, Dayanatpur, Karauli Bangar, Mundrah and Birampur are the villages where the second phase of the airport will take place.
It should be noted that the government will have to take consent of at least 70 per cent land owners for acquisition as stated in the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013.
The government officials claim that about 60 per cent consent has been received.
The law also decrees rate of compensation, resettlement and rehabilitation facilities to be provided by the government.
