New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Dara Singh Chauhan was subjected to an shocking incident on Sunday when he went to campaign for by-polls on Ghosi seat of Mau district in Uttar Pradesh.

Chauhan had arrived near Hinud-Muslim Ekta Gate in Adri area when a man among the crowd hailing for the BJP leader approached him and took the opportunity to throw a black ink at him.

Despite the security provided to the BJP leader, the miscreant managed to run away from the incidnet spot taking advantage of the crowd. The whole incident was caught in camera and a footage of the same is taking rounds on the internet.

Chauhan represented Ghosi constituency as SP MLA

It should be noted that Chauhan had recently joined the saffron outfit after quitting the Samajwadi Party (SP) a few days earlier. He was representing the Ghosi seat in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly but had to give up the seat after resigning from Assembly membership due to his transfer.

However, he left the Akhilesh Yadav’s SP over a conflict on the Ghosi constituency. This followed the vacany on the seat.

As the by-election is mandatory on the seat now, Chauhan had reached Ghosi to ask for votes in the upcoming polls. He was campaigning when someone among the crowd made the attack at him with the black ink. This caused a stir there.

Dara Singh gave this answer

BJP candidate Dara Singh Chauhan for Ghosi of Mau district responded to the incident and turn the matter to target the Opposition in the state.The BJP leader said the incident clearly showed that they (opposition) are afraid of losing the election.

He added that the Samajwadi Party is frustrated over the rising popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath among people. Meanwhile, district chief of BJP Pravin Kumar Gupta called it a move by the SP to insult the backward classes.

Dara Singh Chauhan said an information has received from the police in the matter and they are taking action in the matter. He assured that the accused will be punished.

It should be noted that Dara Singh was also targeted during a campaign in Bundelkhand recently.
