New Delhi: A shoe was thrown at Samajwadi Party’s MLC Swami Prasad Maurya in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow in a OBC convention. The accused appeared from a crowd in a guise of a lawyer.

He was immediately caught and thrashed afterwards by the party workers present at the function. Follwoing which, the police had taken the accused into custody and took him to the Vibhuti Khand police station.

Swami Prasad Maurya is a prominent leader in the Uttar Pradesh politics who have alligned with all major political outfits in the state. He was once in the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and then, joined Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajawadi Party (SP) in the end.

Swami Prasad Maurya has a long political career of about four decades and he is considered to be a formidable politician in UP politics.
