Rajasthan: The price per unit of LPG cylinder for consumers in Rajasthan is now available at Rs 500, which covers 76 lakh families under the Ujjwala Yojana scheme, the Rajasthan government announced on Friday. CM Ashok Gehlot led the presentation at the annual Budget 2023–24.

CM Gehlot stated in December 2022 that those living below the poverty line (BPL) will be able to obtain 12 cylinders per year for Rs 500 each.

The Rajasthan government has announced plans to reduce the price of LPG cylinders by more than half. Presenting the budget 2023–24, the Chief Minister of Rajasthan has said that 12 cooking gas cylinders will be available to the poor consumers of the state in a year. At present, the price of an LPG cylinder has crossed Rs 1000.

Chief Minister had said that LPG cylinders used to be available for Rs 400, but under the BJP government, their price has increased to Rs 1040. He said that he would get the Ujjwala scheme reviewed. In a year, 12 cylinders will be made available to poor consumers; the price per cylinder will be Rs 500.

Taking a dig at PM Modi’s Ujjwala scheme in December 2022, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that people were given gas connections and cylinders, but due to the high cost, people are not able to get the cylinders filled. The cylinder is available for Rs 1040. He will reduce the price of a cylinder by Rs 540 and make it available to the poorest consumers for only Rs 500.
