Greater Noida: The land acquisition process for Phases III and IV of Jewar Airport started simultaneously. 2053 hectares of land in 14 villages in Jewar will be acquired, and 3 runways will be built on it. Firstly, a Social Impact Assessment (SIA) will be done for proper compensation in land acquisition, rehabilitation, and resettlement. GBU will complete the SIA work by August 30.
There was a plan to buy land in four phases for the Noida International Airport Jewar project. In the first phase, 1334 hectares of land were acquired; in the second phase, 1365 hectares of land were acquired; and 2053 hectares of land will be acquired simultaneously for the third and fourth phases. The state government has issued a notification for this.
SP Goyal, Principal Secretary, of the Department of Civil Aviation, has released the notification for Social Impact Assessment (SIA). In this, after talking to the affected farmers, they are told about land acquisition, rehabilitation, resettlement, and compensation. Gautam Buddha University (GBU) has been selected for this study. The SIA for the first two phases has been done by GBU itself. This work will have to be completed by August 30.
According to the information, 2053 hectares of land in 14 villages are to be acquired. In this area, about 1888 hectares of land belong to farmers and about 165 hectares are government land. Three runways are to be built on this land. About Rs 15,000 crore is estimated to be spent on this land acquisition and displacement. After this purchase, the entire land earmarked for the Aviation Hub in the Yamuna Authority area will come to the Civil Aviation Department.
