Kolkata Traffic Advisory: Kolkata Police on Tuesday issued a comprehensive traffic advisory in light of the upcoming festival of Eid-ul-Fitr on 31st March. To ensure smooth traffic flow and safety of public safety, traffic arrangements will be in place on various routes, effective from 4 am to 12 pm. Commuters are advised to follow the advisory to avoid any inconvenience.
Restriction On Good Vehicles
As part of the safety measures, movement of all types of goods vehicles will remain restricted within the city. The diversion will remain in place from 4 am till 12 pm, subject to moon’s visibility on 31st March. Additionally, entry to the Kolkata Dock System is prohibited during this time.
Note: Goods vehicles carrying LPG Cylinders, CNG, Petroleum, Oil, Lubricants & Oxygen, Vegetable, Medicine, Fruits, Fish & Milk will remain unaffected.
No Entry To Red Road
According to the advisory, access to Red Road, located in Maidan, Kolkata, will be restricted for all types of vehicles effective from the night of 30th March. Meanwhile, all vehicles, including Trams, will be temporarily suspended or diverted from the following roads and approaches till noon next Monday.

– APC Roy Road between Girish Bidyaratna Lane and Kali Shome Street
– APC Roy Road between MG Road and Manicktala Crossing
– Maharani Swarnamoyee Road between A.P.C Roy Road and Harsi Street Crossing MN Chatterjee Street
– Raja Dinendra Street and Raja Raj Narayan Street crossing
– Raja Dinendra Street between Garpar Road and Gas Street
– North Sealdah Road
– Kashinath Dutta Road
– Khagen Chatterjee Road
– Lock Gate Road
– Indra Biswas Road
– Gopal Mukherjee Road
– JK Ghosh Road
– Belgachia Road
– Federation Street. Beliaghata Rly. Bridge from Bibi Bagan Lane crossing to Palmer Bazar Road
– Crossing Convent Bridge up to CIT Road crossing and Chatubabu Lane (Full)

Bus Stand At Esplanade To Remain Operational
Commuters are urged to remain patient and cooperate to ensure smooth traffic management. They must note that the Bus Stand at Esplanade Complex will continue to remain operational. Entry to the complex will be via New Road, Dufferin Road, and Exit will be via R R Avenue/Tram track, etc.
Tram Movement Suspended
Movement of Trams on Lenin Sarani and Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road will be temporarily suspended. Vehicular traffic will also be diverted from any of the arterial and/or feeder roads by the traffic police on duty as and when considered necessary on 31st March, subject to the visibility of the Moon.
NOTE: These notification will be enforced in addition to the other normal restrictions on the day, which are not repugnant to the above.
