Jamshedpur: Section 144 was imposed in an area of Jamshedpur where the violence took place on Saturday night and continued until Sunday. Police arrested more than 60 youths. During the protest, people pelted stones and set several shops on fire.
In the Shastri Nagar area of Jamshedpur, there was fierce stone-pelting and firing between two groups on Sunday evening. Police fired into the air to bring the situation under control. Several policemen, including the SSP, were injured in the stone-pelting that lasted for about 3 hours. During the clash, the protesters set ablaze six shops and two bikes.

On the evening of April 8, anti-social elements tied a bag full of meat to the pole of a religious flag at the Chowk in Shastri Nagar, Kadma, Jamshedpur. Regarding this, a meeting of Hinduist organisations was held at the Jatadhari Hanuman Temple located in Block No. 2. Suddenly, stone-pelting started in the middle of the meeting, and violence broke out.
The administration has deployed three companies of the Rapid Action Force. Late at night, 400 more jawans were deployed as a precautionary measure. On the other hand, Deputy Commissioner of Police Vijaya Jadhav appealed to maintain peace and advised people to stay away from rumours. He said that the administration is keeping a close watch on the violence-hit areas.
