Jaipur: In a heart-wrenching incident, a neighbouring youth raped a Dalit woman and then tried to burn her alive in Bangudi village under the Pachpadra police station area of Barmer district, Rajasthan.
According to the Pachpadra police station, a woman living in Banguri village was first raped by Shakur Khan, a youth who lived in her neighbour, after which the accused tried to burn her by pouring acid. The relatives admitted her to a private hospital in Balotra in a half-burnt condition. From there she was referred to Jodhpur’s Mahatma Gandhi Hospital in critical condition where she died during treatment.

Taking action on the complaint of the family members of the victims, the Pachpadra police arrested accused Shakur Khan. According to the relatives of the deceased, seeing her alone at home, the accused came to the house and forcibly raped the woman. After this, for fear of being caught, they poured acid on the deceased and set her on fire.
