New Delhi: Pushpa Mai, a transwoman and president of Jaipur Kinnar Akhara, has welcomed the decision of Rajasthan government who has announced to provide help of Rs 2.50 lakhs for Sex reassignment surgery (SRS).
In a video being widely shared on social media, Pushpa Bai shows happiness saying that Rajasthan is the first state to take such decision which can potentially change lives of many trans.
The president of Jaipur Kinnar Akhara stated that earlier, the trans community used to wait for years to get the SRS. They used to collect money all their lives at signals so they can get the sex change and the get respect they deserve.
Thanking the government for the deision, Pushpa bai said there is happiness in our people who can finally get the surgery.

In the recent, the Ashok Gehlot-led Rajasthan government has announced that it will give financial help of up to Rs 2.50 lakhs for the surgery. Along with this, the facility of Chief Minister Chiranjeevi Health Insurance Scheme is also available.
Tikaram Julie, the minister for Social Justice and Empowerment informed that at the occasion of Transgender Day on November 20, the camps will be set up to provide identity cards for the identified transgender community persons.
