Jaisalmer: IIT Roorkee and GAI scientists found fossils of vegetarian dinosaurs at a place 20 km away from Jaisalmer in the Jethwai region. Scientists have claimed that the fossil is around 160 million years old.
If scientists are to be believed then dinosaurs were in existence in the Kutch basin area around 160 million years ago.
Scientists have named this fossil found in the Thar desert as the dinosaur of India’s Thar. Earlier in 2014 and 2016, scientists discovered fossils of similar dinosaurs in the Jethwai area of Jaisalmer. According to scientists, this area of Jaisalmer can be a dinosaur reach area.
Looking at the remains of fossils being found the colour of these species of dinosaurs was brown, they looked like small ostriches.
India left China behind
GSI scientists told that for the first time, a dinosaur of this species has been found in India. It used to be about 40 feet long. Their neck and tail were short. Never before had a vegetarian species of dinosaur been found in India. Prior to this, the dichreosaurid fossil found in China was thought to be the oldest. This latest discovery in India has left behind the dinosaur fossil found in China by 10 to 3 million years.
