BJP elects Rajendra Rathore as Leader of opposition, Satish Poonia becomes deputy
Jaipur: Rajasthan BJP on Sunday elected Rajendra Rathod as Leader of the Opposition and former State President Satish Poonia as deputy president in the Legislature Party meeting.
The meeting was held at the BJP headquarters on Sunday in the presence of BJP's party president CP Joshi and other officials.
Leaders including Vasundhara Raje, Satish Poonia, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and Kailash Chaudhary were present in the meeting.
In Jaipur, a meeting was held on Friday with National Organization General Secretary BL Santosh, Rajasthan in-charge Arun Singh State President CP Joshi, Organization General Secretary Chandrashekhar, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh regional campaigner Nimbaram and Jaipur province campaigner Babulal at Seva Bharati Bhavan. In this meeting, there was a discussion about the change in the organization and the leader of the opposition. After this meeting, in-charge Arun Singh said that a decision will be taken regarding the new Leader of the Opposition in two days.
On February 12, BJP made Leader of Opposition Gulabchand Kataria the Governor of Assam. Since then, the post of Leader of Opposition in Rajasthan was vacant.
