A couple riding on a motorcycle died after a speeding unidentified vehicle allegedly hit them in the Langar Houz area of Hyderabad on Saturday late at night, said police on Sunday. The deceased have been identified as Dinesh Goswami, 35, and Mona Thakur, 33, residents of Banja Hills in Hyderabad.
Vehicles hits another vehicle before hitting couple
Police said that on Saturday night, when they were going out for some work on a motorcycle, a speeding car hit them before crashing into an autorickshaw.
“Following the accident, passersby managed to nab the suspect driver, who is identified as Pawan and goes by a single name. He was also thrashed by locals,” said police.
Woman was pregnant
During investigation, it came to light that deceased Mona was pregnant. Upon getting information on the emergency helpline number, a team of police rushed to the spot, and they were taken to a nearby hospital, where both of them were declared brought dead, said the police, adding that a case of accident under sections of BNS was registered against the suspect driver and further investigation is underway.
Moving truck catches fire
Meanwhile, in another incident, a moving truck caught fire on Sanga Reddy Highway in Hyderabad. However, the truck driver managed to escalate as he spotted that smoke was billowing out of the engine. Following the incident, fire tenders reached the spot and doused the flames. No casualties were reported.
