Hyderabad: A police complaint has been lodged against Indian actor Nagarjuna Akkineni by Telangana Police on October 4, following allegations from Kasireddy Bhaskara Reddy, President of NGO Janam Kosam Manasakshi Foundation. According to media reports, Reddy accused Nagarjuna of illegal land encroachment.

He alleged that the actor built the N Convention Centre illegally on land valued at hundreds of crores within the Full Tank Level and buffer zone of Thammidikunta Lake. Nagarjuna has gained a significant amount of illegal money from the N Convention, he added.

As a part of the ongoing drive to remove illegal constructions, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection (HYDRAA) agency partially demolished Nagarjuna’s N-Convention Centre on August 24.

Nagarjuna got a stay from the High Court immediately following the demolition, arguing it was illegal and insisting that the lands have all legal documents.

In a tweet, Nagarjuna clarified, “I want to reiterate that the land on which N-Convention was built is legally documented. Not even one cent of the land beyond that has been encroached upon”. He also referred to a judgment by the special court of Andhra Pradesh under the Land Grabbing (Prohibition) Act which stated on 24th Feb 2014, that no encroachment had taken place in the Tummidikunta Lake area.

So far, Nagarjuna has not issued an official statement on the matter.
