Hyderabad: Two women wearing burqa were taken into custody for allegedly vandalising goddess Durga idol at a poojan pandal in Khairatabad area of Hyderabad, officials said on Tuesday.
The incident was reported early this morning, when the women, a sister duo, vandalized the idol of Maa Durga using a spanner.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the women were mentally unstable, police said, adding that both the women have been taken into custody.

Officials said the women were not cooperating with the investigation and were not disclosing their names.
Hyderabad Central Zone DCP MR Chandra said that two women from the Muslim community have been arrested for vandalizing a part of an idol of Goddess Durga at a pandal in Khairatabad. A woman was also seen carrying a spanner. She tried to attack a local who tried to stop them.
Raids against PFI across the country
In a major crackdown on PFI once again, action was taken against the outfit in different states of the country on Tuesday.
The state police and its Anti Terrorist Squad units have conducted raids against the PFI in various states including Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Assam, Delhi, Maharashtra, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh.

In Lucknow, around 57 people belonging to the PFI have been arrested in a raid by the Police, Special Task Force and ATS. On Tuesday, raids were conducted at various places in 26 districts of Uttar Pradesh.
Additional Director General (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar said in a statement that the documents and other items seized during the raids are being examined. He said that legal action would be taken as the investigation progresses.
