New Delhi: Three unidentified people fired at four men in northeast Delhi’s Jafarabad on Monday night. Four of them got injured, and police said that they are looking into the case from a gang rivalry angle as three of the victims have criminal records. They added that one of them recently came out of jail in a murder case. The incident was caught on neighbourhood CCTV.
Sameer Khopad, 20, Abdul Hasan, 18, Arbaz, 25, and Hamza, 20, all received one gunshot each. Khopad was shot in the waist, Hasan through the hip, Arbaaz through the back, and Hamza through the chest. Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital admitted all four.
According to Sandhya Swamy, additional deputy police commissioner (northeast), they were told about the shooting at about 9 p.m. and a team was rushed there. The injured were subsequently transported to a hospital.
Sandhya said, “All four were referred to the GTB Hospital for further treatment. Of them, Khopad, Arbaaz, and Hamza have previous criminal involvements. Multiple teams have been formed to nab the culprits, who were captured walking in a lane on CCTV cameras. We are scanning the video footage to identify them. A case has been registered.”
