Sukhram Rathwa, Leader of the Opposition, demanded that MLAs be allowed to raise issues affecting the people, such as price increases, bad roads, and the agitation of government employees to restore the old pension scheme. When the Speaker refused to grant permission, the Congress MLAs raised anti-government slogans and demanded a debate on the government employees’ strike.

At this point, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rajendra Trivedi moved a motion to suspend MLA Jignesh Mevani and other protesters who had gathered at the Well. Gujarat Education Minister Jitu Vaghani backed Rajendra Trivedi as well. Following that, the Speaker of the House suspended the MLAs for one day.

However, following the suspension of 12 Congress MLAs, other Congress MLAs in the house staged a walkout.

Earlier, even before the House began its proceedings, Congress MLAs raised anti-government slogans in front of the Assembly.
