Greater Noida: A clash between college students and more than 30 private security guards took place inside the state-run Gautam Buddha University in Greater Noida. All the students and guards were taken into custody after the clash.
The reason behind the clash was that some security guards stopped students from smoking cigarettes at the Munshi Premchand Hostel.
The police spokesperson said, “An argument broke out between the two sides around 10.30 pm on Sunday and blew into a clash after which 33 people were taken into custody by a police team which reached the spot. The police have received complaints from both sides and the matter is being probed.”
A video of the event went viral on social media, apparently showing some stick-wielding individuals breaking two-wheelers and four-wheelers parked outside the hostel, while an inmate is heard yelling expletives.
The incident, which occurred near the Ecotech 1 police station, is being examined by high officials, and more people may be arrested, according to the spokeswoman.
