Five students from a private university in Greater Noida were apprehended by local authorities on Monday for purportedly engaging in a physical altercation, officials revealed on Tuesday. The incident, which unfolded outside Supertech Czar high-rise society in Omicron-1, Greater Noida, stemmed from a three-day-old dispute among the students, all aged between 19 and 21 years old.
According to Sujeet Upadhyay, station house officer of Dadri police station, a concerned passerby reported a public altercation on the main road outside the high-rise society. Upon receiving the information, the police arrived at the scene to investigate the matter.
It was unveiled that the disagreement, which had originated three days prior, escalated on Monday as more students joined in from both sides. The altercation between the two groups occurred on the main road outside the society, and portions of the confrontation were recorded by bystanders and some involved individuals, stated the SHO.
Subsequently, officials took five students into custody. The individuals involved in the altercation were identified as Vedant Deda, Aryan Arora, and Ojas Mishra from one side, and Nitish Bhati alias Lucky Bhati and Sushant Bhadana from the other. These students hailed from distinct courses and sessions.
Assistant Commissioner of Police-2, Sarthak Sengar, mentioned the preventive arrest of these students under Section 151 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, citing charges of assault and criminal intimidation. Following their arrest, the students were presented before a magistrate on Monday and were granted bail.
