Noida: Gangajal project management informs that the supply of Ganga water in Noida and Greater Noida will start in May through the new plant located in Ghaziabad. Six lakh people living in about 26 sectors will get benefits from it. The 90 MLD Gangajal will be given to Noida and the 30 MLD to Siddharth Vihar.
Jal Nigam official told that they had laid a 20-kilometre-long pipeline of 1500 mm diameter and a seven-kilometre pipeline has also been laid near NH-9 to bring Gangajal to the new plant. The Noida Authority will be responsible for the supply of Gangajal in the colonies of Noida. Whereas in Siddharth Vihar, this work will be done by the Housing Development Council. The construction of this project has been done by Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam Kalwar and Rs. 304 crores is being spent on the project. The construction work on the 120 MLD capacity plant has been completed by Jal Nigam.
CEO Ritu Maheshwari said that there are two main issues that are being addressed. The first issue is to improve the water quality and pressure in the 22 sectors where Ganga water is being supplied. The second issue is taking the Ganga water supply to the new residential areas. Also, 40% Ganga water is mixed with 60% groundwater to meet the water needs of the city. The aim of the authority is that after covering the entire area of the project, the amount of Gangajal in the water will be increased.
With this project, Gangajal will be supplied to lakhs of people in 26 sectors. This includes Sector-122, 128, 130, 131,133, 134, 135, 137, 143, 144, 145, 143B, 146, 147, 151 and 168. About 6 lakh people live in these sectors. Also, some of these sectors are of industrial development.
