Khatima: A car fell into the Sharda River in Khatima’s Udham Singh Nagar district. Five people, including three children in the car, have died in the accident. The accident is being reported near Lohiahead Power House.

According to reports, a woman named Draupadi, her daughter, two children of her brother, and the driver of the car were killed in the accident. Draupadi was an employee of Lohiahead Power House. The accident happened when she was returning home from her brother’s house on the banks of the Sharda canal.

Draupadi’s brother Mohan tried to contact him on his mobile phone but found the phone switched off, so he left on a scooter with his wife. When they reached Lohiahead Power House, they saw that the car had fallen into the Sharda canal.

Mohan informed the police, after which the police reached the spot and started a rescue operation with the help of divers. Divers pulled all five people, including three children, from the canal, but by then they had died. The deceased have been identified as Draupadi Devi (34), Jyoti (6), Deepika (7), Sonu (5), and Mohan Singh Dhami (driver).
