New Delhi: To strengthen the in-service and pre-service teacher training in the national capital, the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Delhi, has established a new magnificent teacher training block.
The block was inaugurated by the Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia on Friday. The training block has been designed according to the international standards with state-of-the-art facilities. This block has 5 big training halls, an auditorium, conference room, faculty office, Inset room and a canteen.
While inaugurating the block, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said, “This new training block of SCERT will take teacher training standards to new heights in Delhi. Here our teachers can be trained in a good environment with world class facilities. This new block will also act as a centre for research and innovation in the field of education in Delhi.”
The Deputy Chief Minister said that it is the government’s responsibility to provide all facilities and opportunities to educational institutions and under the leadership of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, for the last 7 years, we are working to ensure this with commitment in Delhi. The government has done the work of providing facilities for this training but beyond this, it is SCERT’s responsibility to ensure excellent training for the teachers here. So when people talk about quality teacher training all over the world, people should take the name of SCERT, Delhi.
SCERT has played an important role in the formulation of Mindset Curricula and Delhi Education Revolution- Dy CM Manish Sisodia
Manish Sisodia said that in the academic session 2021-22, SCERT has trained more than 82,000 teachers for Mission Buniyaad and so far 39,405 teachers have been trained under our three Mindset Curriculum in the current session.
The Deputy Chief Minister said, “In this session, various national and international visits were also organised by SCERT under its various training programs to give exposure to teachers and school heads of Delhi government schools and make them aware of the best education practices across the world. 400 school heads and teachers of Delhi government schools were sent to IIMs and other places for leadership training and exposure. 600 pre-service teacher trainees were sent to IIT Bombay, IIT Gandhi Nagar and Tata Institute of Social Sciences Research Mumbai for exposure visits. Along with this, 2 batches (60) of HoSs have been sent to Cambridge University in 2022 for leadership training.
The Deputy Chief Minister shared that the Teacher-Training Management System being developed by SCERT will prove to be very helpful for teacher training and professional development of teachers in the future. This will include a database of 62,000 teacher profiles, training assignments, growth and training resources.
It is to be noted that SCERT is working on a war footing towards improving the pre-service and In service training programs in Delhi. Under this, SCERT is working to modernise all its DIETs. Under this work is being done to digitize libraries, set up various labs, improve infrastructure and modernise training facilities.
Other dignitaries present at the inauguration were Education Secretary Ashok Kumar, Principal Education Advisor Shailendra Sharma, Director SCERT Rajnish Kumar and other senior officials of the Directorate of Education and SCERT.
