Noida: The Dwarka Expressway will be opened by June to reduce traffic pressure on the Gurugram-Delhi Expressway and provide direct connectivity from Delhi’s Dwarka to Gurugram. NHAI informed us about this in the meeting: the Dwarka Expressway will be started in 2023.
Officials said that the Dwarka Motorway would ease pressure on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway and significant roads experiencing severe traffic congestion, mainly from commuters in West Delhi. They added that 50 to 60 per cent of traffic on NH-8 would be diverted to the new Expressway. This will improve traffic on Sohna Road, Golf Course Road, and Air Extension.
The commissioning of this motorway in 2023 will also help reduce air pollution in Delhi-NCR. It is a 16-lane access-controlled highway with a minimum provision of a 3-lane service road on both sides. On this 29-kilometre-long Expressway, about 19 kilometres fall in Haryana, while the remaining 10 kilometres are in Delhi.
GMDA CEO and Gurugram Municipal Commissioner PC Meena, DC Nishant Kumar Yadav, Municipal Corporation Manesar Commissioner Sahil Gupta, ADC Hitesh Kumar Meena, Sohna SDM Pradeep Singh, and officers of many other departments were present.
