Pune: A drunk man called the police and asked for an ambulance, and when he was asked to call 108 for help, he got angry and threatened to harm Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde. The Pune police are now questioning the accused.
The 42-year-old man from Pune was identified as Rajesh Agwane, who is employed as a ward boy at a hospital in Mumbai. He confessed that he called the police control room while he was drunk and threatened them.
An official stated on Tuesday that he was nabbed by police for reportedly threatening to assassinate Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The Pune police are now interviewing the culprit, who dialled ‘112’ for an ambulance but when ordered to telephone ‘108,’ he became angry and threatened to kill the CM.
A senior police officer said, “On Monday night, the man called up police control room number 112 and sought medical assistance. He was told to call on 108 (ambulance service number). The man again called up the police control room, he spoke in threatening language and to harm the chief minister. The man was drunk.”

He added, “His wife was there, she grabbed the phone and told the control room officers that the man was drunk and he did not know what he was saying and requested to ignore his comments.”
While the man was on the phone with the policemen, making threats, his wife, who happened to be nearby, snatched the phone from him and alerted the cops about his condition. The man was nabbed in Pune’s Warje neighbourhood. Additional research is being conducted.
