A massive fire erupted in a five-story building located in Mumbai’s Goregaon area on Friday, resulting in a tragic loss of seven lives, with 39 others reported to be in critical condition, as per ANI reports. Disturbing visuals of the blaze have emerged online.
The fire, categorized as Level 2, ignited around 3 am at the Jay Bhavani building, situated on MG Road near Azad Maidan.

Swift Rescue Operations and Medical Care
Over 30 individuals were successfully rescued following the Level 2 fire incident. Mumbai’s civic body, BMC, promptly transported the rescued individuals to various hospitals. Among the 46 people injured in the fire, seven sadly lost their lives, while 39 are currently receiving treatment at HBT and Cooper Hospital, as confirmed by the Mumbai Police.
Heroic Efforts of the Fire Department
Reports from the fire department indicate that the fire primarily affected shops, scrap materials, parked two-wheelers, four-wheelers, meter cabins, rags, plywood, and other items within the building. The fire department initiated an extensive operation, utilizing six hose lines and eight motor pumps to extinguish the blaze. Their relentless efforts paid off, as the fire was completely under control by approximately 6:54 am in the morning.
